If your septic system is not operating properly you will be able to tell from a few significant signs.  These signs include pipe gurgling, slow drains, toilet flushing issues, water backup, bad odors, greener grass where the septic system is, and patches of standing water.


How do I keep my septic system healthy?  Do's and Dont's

Do:

  • Flush human waste and toilet paper only 
  • Use septic safe or 1-ply toilet paper

Don't:

  • Flush baby wipes, paper towels, napkins, or kleenex (even if it says it is "flushable")
  • Flush dental floss or medications
  • Flush personal products (tampons, condoms, etc.)
  • Flush food waste (grease, cereals, etc.)
